Jon Alexander Daye, Radio & TV Personality, Dies

jon alexander dayeJon Alexander Daye, noted Radio & TV personality, died July 8th after a brief illness.

Daye was also an author, and Founder and President of several erstwhile awards, including the coveted Kizzy Award, which recognized women for their professional accomplishments and community service; the Success Awards, which recognized men for their distinguished accomplishments; and the Black Woman Hall of Fame Foundation, which recognized a long list of women luminaries with the Bethune Tubman Truth Award.

He was a radio personality at WVON radio (“Straight Talk”) in Chicago, a television talk show host on Star Planet Television Network, Cable Channel-25; and host of “Straight Talk” on Rev. Harold Bailey’s PCC Network. Daye discussed a myriad of issues on all his talk shows.

Through his various awards programs, Daye reached out to innumerable local and national “dignitaries” – recipients of his awards.

CopyLine’s Juanita Bratcher, Journalist, Author, Publisher, Poet & Songwriter, and a longtime friend of Daye, was a recipient of the Kizzy Award in May 1983.

Said Bratcher: “I’m truly saddened by Jon’s death. He will sorely be missed. His tireless commitment to many and his unselfish sharing of his time and knowledge with others will not be forgotten.”
