Miami, FL (BlackNews.com) — A Black Doctorates conference will be held on June 29-30, 2012 in Miami, Florida. The theme will be “Black Doctorates: Building Our Future/ What’s Next?”, and the conference will serve a twofold purpose: (1) To discuss a plan of action of how to increase the number of black doctorates; and (2) expose black youth to black doctorates as a motivational tool to earn a doctorate and make a difference in the lives of others.
On Friday, June 29th, a lapel pin ceremony (Ph. D and Ed. D) will be held with other doctorates in their full doctoral regalia. Therefore, the Doctorates from other academic areas (PSY. D., D. MIN., D. P.A.,) just to list a few, will be recognized with their names on the conference program/website on the same evening. The Ph. D. and Ed. D lapel pins will have a hard enamel with a clear stone and shipped in a velvet pouch. Also, doctoral candidates are encourage to attend the conference and will also be recognized in the same manner.
In addition, doctorates who have earned their degree between the ages of 20-37 will be recognized at the ceremony – as a motivational factor to Black youth.
On Saturday, June 30th, at Don Shula’s Hotel and Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Florida, there will be two panel discussion on the conference theme with strategies that attendees can implement.
