The former office manager of a south suburban physical therapy office was sentenced to seven years in prison today after pleading guilty to stealing more than $700,000 over the course of seven years, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

Rita Schinske, 57, of the 16600 block of Tower Court, pled guilty to Theft over $500,000, a Class 1 felony, before Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland, who sentenced Schinske to seven years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Schinske was employed as the office manager at a physical and occupational therapy company located in Orland Park. Part of Schinske’s duties as office manager included bookkeeping for the office. Between April of 2003 and December of 2011, Schinske wrote more than 600 checks, totaling more than $772,000, to herself and deposited them into her personal account. Schinske’s theft was discovered during a review of the company’s finances.
