State Board Issues Statement on Procurement for a New College Entrance Exam for Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, IL – In July 2015, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released a request for sealed proposals for a new college entrance examination because ISBE’s previous contract with ACT expired on June 30, 2015. The procurement process was conducted in accordance with the Illinois Procurement Code.

A Notice of Award was posted that identified the College Board (which administers the SAT examination) as the successful proposer. A protest to the procurement process was filed, and the protest was denied.

ISBE will now begin the process of negotiating a contract with the College Board. ISBE reaffirms its appreciation for the legislators who continue to support this commitment and who are working to find solutions for school districts during this critical time in our state.

An FAQ document with more details about the procurement process and protest will be posted on ISBE’s website at www.isbe.net  and www.isbe.net/hot-topics.htm.
