Senators Kirk and Coons Statement on Nobel Peace Prize Winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi
CHICAGO, IL — U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.), co-founders of the Senate Human Rights Caucus, issued a joint statement in response to the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Pakistani child education activist Malala Yousafzai and Indian anti-child labor activist Kailish Satyarthi:
“In the face of violence and attempts on their lives, Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi have shown that the human spirit cannot be contained. They are not only inspiring and symbolic, but leaders on a global scale, and we congratulate them on this well-deserved honor.”
