Springfield, IL — Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White is urging Illinois authors with published books to submit their names for possible inclusion in the Illinois Authors Wiki (http://www.illinoisauthors.org).

“Illinois has a long and rich literary heritage that includes such greats as Gwendolyn Brooks, Ernest Hemingway, Carl Sandburg and Studs Terkel,” said White.  “Many of our authors have made and continue to make an enormous impact on the literary world.  The Illinois Authors Wiki allows us to have a vast and comprehensive resource about Illinois authors. I encourage all Illinois authors with published books to be a part of the Illinois Authors Wiki.”

The Illinois Authors Wiki is a project of the Illinois Center for the Book, a division of the Illinois State Library.  The Illinois Center for the Book is an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. It works to connect readers and writers and honor the state’s literary heritage.

Published illustrators and photographers are also eligible for inclusion in the Wiki.  To be eligible, an author must be or have been an Illinois resident. Authors must write about Illinois subjects of interest (Abraham Lincoln, Chicago Cubs, etc.), or about actual or fictional places specifically set in Illinois.
