Sec’y of State Jesse White to Host Celebration of African-American Heritage Month
Art Norman to receive Lifetime Achievement Award and deliver keynote address
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will honor broadcasting pioneers Art Norman and Robin Robinson, Chicago Defender Charities President Colonel Eugene F. Scott, family matriarch Rosetta Browley and the late president of the Illinois Literacy Foundation, Anthony Taylor, during a celebration of African-American Heritage Month.
The event also includes participation and performances from the Jesse White Drum Corps, jazz quartet Two Guys & Two Dames, Proviso East High School Naval JROTC and local dance group Move Me Soul.
The event will be held Thursday, February 26, from noon to 1 p.m., at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, Concourse Level.
The purpose of the event is to honor and celebrate the many contributions made by African-Americans throughout the state of Illinois in recognition of African-American Heritage Month.
