Sec'y of State Jesse White to host Celebration for African-American Heritage Month

Grammy-Award Winning Artists Lupe Fiasco and Michelle Williams, Five Original Tuskegee Airmen, as well as Chicago Radio Legend Herb Kent, to be honored


CHICAGO, IL – Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will celebrate African-American Heritage Month February 23, 2012, at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, Concourse Level, from Noon to 1 p.m.

The event will honor and celebrate the many contributions made by African-Americans in the city of Chicago and state of Illinois in recognition of African-American Heritage Month.

White will honor Hip Hop emcee Lupe Fiasco, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, original Tuskegee Airmen from Chicago, radio legend Herb Kent, Chuck Colbert of The American Breed and jazz vocalist Dee Alexander during a celebration of African-American Heritage Month.

The event will feature musical performances by the Verzatile Band, violinist Lee England, Jr. and the Jesse White Drum Corps.
