NAACP to Launch Justice Tour: Pressing for Equality, Fighting for Fairness

BALTIMORE, MD – Only three months on the job, NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks is on the road and he’s coming to a town near you. The NAACP’s “Justice Tour” will take President Cornell William Brooks from coast to coast to talk, listen and learn about the important work and emerging issues of NAACP field units—the bedrock of our civil rights Association.

The goal of this tour is to rally Americans across the country to register to vote, to address the economical challenges facing thousands of families, to discuss issues of racial profiling, to engage with young activists and veteran civil rights leaders and to build the ranks of NAACP membership.

“This tour is about strengthening our connection to our field leaders who are the backbone of this Association,” said NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks. “For 105 years the NAACP has been the first line of defense for those across this country who have experienced injustice. That has not and will not change.”

The tour begins in El Paso, Texas — with a stop at the NAACP Texas State Convention; a “Get Out the Vote” canvas and a sermon at the first African American Church in Albuquerque.  From there, President Brooks will travel throughout the south and southwest, participating in youth rallies, town halls, informational sessions and delivering sermons in selected spots throughout the country.
