BALTIMORE, M.D. – On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks traveled to Oklahoma to hold a “Teach In” at Oklahoma State University on the modern day civil rights movement. Brooks  joined scores of college students to discuss some of the most pressing social justice issues of the 21st century, including: voting rights, poverty, income inequality, student loan debt, stand your ground laws and racial profiling as part of the NAACP’s “Justice Tour.”

The goal of the “Justice Tour” is to rally Americans across the country to register to vote, to address the economic challenges facing thousands of families, to engage with young activists and veteran civil rights leaders and to build the ranks of NAACP membership. Brooks will be available for media interviews throughout the day.

“Teach-ins are meant to be participatory and action oriented,” said NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks. “I have a sincere desire to hear from NAACP Youth and College members and other youth activists and support them in developing the strongest strategies for action in solving the social and political ills plaguing our society.”
