Still Too Extreme, Still Broke

 
Many 13th district voters will remember Dr. David Gill; he’s been trying, unsuccessfully, to become their Congressman for the better part of a decade.  In 2004, Gill challenged Congressman Tim Johnson and lost 61% to 39%.  In 2006, the best Democratic election year in decades, Gill lost to Johnson again 42% to 58%.  In 2010, Gill took a third shot at Johnson and performed even worse than he did the first time, losing 36% to 64%.  Gill limped out of the 2012 Democratic primary with a 147 vote margin of victory and had only $16,466.73 in his campaign account as of March 31, along with $20,000 in debt.

“The same factors that led to David Gill’s three previous crushing defeats will ensure his fourth, and hopefully final, loss this year,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady.  “If 13th district voters weren’t interested in Dr. Gill’s prescription of high taxes and fiscal irresponsibility the first three times, I don’t know what he thinks they’ll change their minds the fourth time around.  The fact that Gill’s campaign was in the red as of March 31 indicates that Democratic donors aren’t enthusiastic about his chances either.”

On the issues that matter to 13th District families, David Gill is far out of step.
