Duckworth Campaign Continues Amid Controversy
Her Senate Campaign Off To Uncomfortable Start

CHICAGO, IL – Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s campaign for U.S. Senate has gotten off to a scandalized and somewhat uncomfortable start. After attempts to distance herself from the now disgraced Rod Blagojevich, many are recalling how her career in politics began. Noting that after she lost her race for U.S. Congress in 2006, she was appointed Director of The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs by the currently-incarcerated Rod Blagojevich.
Since her announcement, Duckworth has already launched a number of attacks at incumbent Senator Mark Kirk, the most insipid of which is that Kirk supports “tax cuts for large corporations at the expense of small business.†But as campaign manager Kevin Artl points out, Duckworth has zero credibility when it comes to tax issues after she improperly claimed a homestead exemption on two homes and was forced to pay those taxes back. Duckworth also contends that Kirk supports cuts to Medicare but she herself supported nearly $750 million in Medicare cuts.
Whether Representative Duckworth is being considered for an auctioned senate seat by her former boss or misfiling her taxes in order to claim undue exemptions, it is clear that her hypocrisy knows no bounds and she thinks the facts are irrelevant.
