Department on Aging Hosts a Summit to Prevent Elder Financial Exploitation
Summit Will be Held During the Adult Protective Services Conference
OAK BROOK, IL – The Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) will host the 3rd annual Summit on the Prevention of Elder Financial Fraud and Abuse Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Oak Brook Hills Resort. IDoA presents the summit to highlight addressing the ways state and federal agencies work together with financial institutions to protect older adults from exploitation and fraud. Financial exploitation is the most commonly reported form of abuse against older adults. The summit is held the first day of the Adult Protective Services Conference which runs through August 22).
Employees of financial institutions are considered partners in recognizing, reporting and stopping the financial exploitation of older adults. Those who attend will benefit from presentations by state and federal experts. The featured speaker will be Terry Savage, author and nationally recognized expert on personal finance, the economy and the markets. Ms. Savage will present the “Savage Truth about Protecting Our Elders’ Money.â€
