Focused and determined, Obama’s steady, rational leadership in regards to domestic and foreign policy issues and where he wants to take this country in the next four years will be key in moving America forward and keeping the country on the right track to recovery – Juanita Bratcher, Editor & Publisher, CopyLine Magazine www.copylinemagazine.com

When addressing the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina in September, 2012, President Barack Obama told the American people that “…When you pick up that ballot to vote — you will face the clearest choice of any time in a generation. Over the next few years, big decisions will be made in Washington on jobs, the economy, taxes and deficits, energy, education, war and peace — decisions that will have a huge impact on our lives and on our children’s lives for decades to come.

“And on every issue, the choice you face won’t just be between two candidates or two parties.  It will be a choice between two different paths for America, a choice between two fundamentally different visions for the future.”

The President continued: “Ours (Obama Administration) is a fight to restore the values that built the largest middle class and the strongest economy the world has ever known…”

The President’s assertion is absolutely right! CopyLine Magazine agrees that there is a clear choice between Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. There’s also a stark difference in the Democrat and Republican Parties and in the Democrats’ and Republicans’ agendas as to where each party would like to take this country in the next four years.

CopyLine Magazine excitedly chooses Obama’s path for America, that he finishes the job that he started four years ago under tough circumstances – a failing economy and job loss in the hundreds of thousands.

Obama has shown great strength, humility, resilience, character and intellect throughout the 2012 election campaign. He has kept a cool head and stayed focus in spite of campaign attacks, lies and false accusations by Right Wingers and Tea Partiers who have been outrageously hostile toward his administration and policies during his four years as president. Not only have there been gross disrespect towards him as Commander-In-Chief but they have also disrespected the Office of the Presidency.

On the other hand, Romney has yet to tell the American people his plans for America. Throughout the campaign he has sent unclear messages – with very little details or no details at all as to how he will lead this country in the next four years. Certainly, his evasive attitude as a candidate has left some voters uncertain about what his agenda will be, if elected. He says he will create 12 million new jobs but he hasn’t said yet how he will create them. He has given conflicting opinions on various issues; one day it’s one thing, the next day it’s another. His actions make way for no accountability to the American people, and no specifics about anything, other than throwing scathing remarks against the president at every hand. Apparently, Romney thinks that less talk about the issues and Super Pac money from wealthy millionaires and billionaire will win or buy him the White House. In the last days of the campaign both Romney and his vice presidential running mate Paul Ryan have avoided interviews with the Press.

This campaign boils down to trust. It’s all about trust. Who do you trust to be caretaker of America during the next four years? Who would be president for all the people instead of a president looking at some Americans as freeloaders?

Romney, as reported by Mother Jones, a media publication, was heard in a secret tape with a group of billionaires describing 47% of Americans as freeloaders, that they don’t pay income tax in America.

Romney said in the secret recorded tape: “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it — that that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. … These are people who pay no income tax. … my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

But after much ado and controversy over the issue – up and down the Internet and in the news media about his secret recorded remarks – Romney backtracked on his statement and said he was for 100%…all Americans. It was just another example of his many notorious backtracking statements.

When it was aired in the news media in early 2012 that a Super Pac supportive of Romney was getting ready to start a new round of attacks hooking Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the hip – as was done by many Right Wingers in the 2008 election campaign – Romney repudiated it, saying he didn’t remember invoking Wright’s name when appearing on the Sean Hannity show on Fox News. Sometimes later when asked about it at a campaign rally in Florida in February, Romney said: “I’m not familiar precisely with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said whatever it was.”

Obama personifies strong qualities and leadership needed to keep America on the right track to recovery. There is no doubt, the president will continue to deal with the pressing issues of the day – getting the economy back on the right track –  inroads have already been made when looking at the last two job reports for October and November 2012, and the unemployment rate is now under eight percent.

In the next four years under an Obama presidency, priority will continue to be focused on national security – as always – immigration, tax reform, deficit reduction, job creation, and getting a balanced budget in place.

Think about it, Obama and his policies have kept the country afloat without any support from Washington Republican leadership. Republicans have stuck to their plan of trying to make Barack Obama a one-term president and his healthcare bill a waterloo. Romney and key Republican leadership have echoed their intentions to repeal the Affordable Care Act (the healthcare law which is giving millions of uninsured Americans accessibility to affordable health care).

Just a few of Obama’s key accomplishments:

  1. Osama Bin Laden is dead…brought Osama Bin Laden to justice
  2. Ended the Iraq War.
  3. Signed into law the Affordable Care Act which provides affordable healthcare for uninsured individuals and their families.
  4. Signed into law the Democratic-sponsored Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which gives basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers.
  5. More funding for the Violence Against Women Act.
  6. Reformed the student loan program: now students can finance their loans at a lower rate.
  7. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act taxes were cut for 95% of working families in America.
  8. Rescued the auto industry and saved hundreds of thousands of jobs.
  9. TARP financial and banking rescue plan put in place.

10.  Making Home Affordable home refinancing plan.

11.  Helped small businesses by initiating a $15 billion plan that encouraged increased lending.

12.  Wall Street reform: Obama with Congressional Democrats passed Dodd-Frank.

13.  Signed the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act, thereby, closing loopholes that allowed companies to send jobs overseas, and avoid paying US taxes by moving money offshore.

14.   Repeal of the discriminatory “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy.

15.  Publicly expressed support for the right to enter into a same-sex marriage.

It is better to move forward with President Barack Obama’s consistent hands-on agenda for moving this country FORWARD in a second term rather than gamble on an etch-a-sketch candidate and flip-flopper who is trying to replace him and hasn’t said that much about his agenda for America. In a secret recorded tape Romney described 47% of Americans freeloaders who pay no income tax. Romney has had more etch-a-sketch moments than any presidential contender in recent history.
