A hastily assembled, yet broad coalition of peace organizations will assemble tonight ahead of President Obama’s anticipated announcement of a U.S. escalation of the civil wars raging in Syria and Iraq.  They will denounce the President’s escalation of the wars, especially in light of his campaigns using pro-peace rhetoric.

They will assemble at 5 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, ahead of President Obama’s 8 P.M. (CST) speech to the nation, in front of the Kluczynski Federal Building, 230 S. Dearborn Street, in Chicago

Those participating are:

8th Day Center for Justice, ANSWER Coalition, Anti-War Committee, Chicago Area CodePINK, Chicago Area Peace Action, Gay Liberation Network, International Socialist Organization, La Voz de los de Abajo, Near West Citizens for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace NW Indiana Chapter, Voices for Creative Non-Violence, and World Can’t Wait Chicago.
