Member and co-founder of Organized Communities Against Deportation (OCAD) will be presenting a lawsuit against USCIS after being denied DACA over civil disobedience charges. 

CHICAGO, IL — A young Chicago woman will announce details of her lawsuit against DHS and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Agency on Wednesday, May 25th, alleging retaliation for her participation in civil disobedience actions.  Civil and immigrant rights organizations from across the country are rallying behind Ireri Unzueta Carrasco’s case, related to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

The Press conference to announce the filing of Ms. Nadia Sol Ireri Unzueta Carrasco’s federal lawsuit and letter of support from over 120 civil​, faith,​ and immigrant rights organizations nationwide, was held in front of USCIS Chicago Office, 101 W. Congress Parkway, yesterday Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 11 a.m.

At the press conference were:

Ireri Unzueta Carrasco, national immigrant rights leader was denied renewal of DACA protection and plaintiff in the case.

Charles Roth,  pro bono counsel for Ms. Unzueta Carrasco and director of litigation for the National Immigrant Justice Center. ​

Mony Ruiz-Velasco, Executive Director​ of PASO – West Suburban Action Project and Ms. Unzueta Carrasco’s legal council during her DACA renewal process.

Tania Unzueta, Ms. Unzueta Carrasco’s sister and Legal and Policy Director at Mijente and the #Not1More Deportation Campaign.

Members of Organized Communities Against Deportation (OCAD), including undocumented immigrants who have participated in civil disobediences against deportations.
