State Public Health Department joins Health Data Consortium, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to kickoff “Putting health Data to Work’ Events
CHICAGO, IL – On Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, the Illinois Department of Public Health, along with the Health Data Consortium and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will hold two days of activities focused on developing and sharing innovative ways to work with health data that will drive innovation and improve healthcare in cities and states nationwide. Both events will be held at 1871, the digital technology center located at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
During the first event, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 8, thought leaders from the private, non-profit, academia and government sectors will discuss the most pressing health data issues being faced in the United States and actionable ideas for using open health data to drive innovation and improve care at the state and local levels. This event will be the first in a series of regional forums focused on “Putting Health Data to Work in Our States and Communities.†Information on upcoming Health Data Consortium events can be found at www.healthdataconsortium.org.
The second event, the Illinois Public Health Datapalooza, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 9. Entrepreneurs, IT developers, coders, researchers and civic minded individuals will be introduced to government data sets already available on www.Data.Illinois.gov, the state of Illinois’ open data portal, and given an in-depth look to new public health data sets soon to be released.
