State’s Attorney Alvarez celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
 20th Annual El Humanitario Awards Ceremony honors two prominent Latino community leaders

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, along with members of the office’s Hispanic Advisory Council, recently presented awards to two individuals who have made contributions to the Hispanic community through their professional and personal lives.
The Honorable Jesse G. Reyes (left), Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr., (right) President of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) received the office’s El Humanitario Award for their professional excellence and community involvement.
The Honorable Jesse G. Reyes has a distinguished legal career both on and off the bench. Â Among his many honors are being named Judge of the Year by the North Suburban Bar Association, Person of the Year from the Latin American Police Association, honorary memberships with several local bar associations and vice president of the Diversity Scholarship Foundation.
Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. is considered one of the most highly decorated and educated Latino leaders in the nation. His many honors include being recognized four times as one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics in America†and being the 4th Latino in history to be honored by both the United States and Mexican governments.
 The El Humanitario Awards were held October 10, 2012 at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago.
