Sec’y of State Jesse White visits Stroger Hospital to encourage organ/tissue donation

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will join Cook County Commissioner Robert Steele, a kidney recipient, Cook County Health and Hospitals System Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ram Raju, kidney specialist/donor family Dr. Kalyani Perumal, and Gift of Hope CEO Kevin Cmunt

White’s visit is to encourage organ/tissue donation during a donor registration drive.

 White will visit the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, 1969 W. Ogden Avenue, Main entrance near chapel (enter at Entrance 2), Thursday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m.

 April is National Donate Life Month.  White will be traveling the state as well as working with organizations to promote the importance of organ and tissue donor awareness.  In Illinois, more than 5.2 million people have signed up for the registry, but every year about 300 people die waiting for their gift of life.
