Sec’y of State Jesse White Holds Illinois’ Sixth Official U.S. Constitution and Citizenship Day Celebration

70 People from 25 Countries to be Sworn-In as Citizens

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White today held the state’s sixth official U.S. Constitution and Citizenship Day Celebration.  The event also commemorated the 227th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, which took place on September 17, 1787. U.S. District Court Judge Joan B. Gottschall swore in 70 people from various countries or nationalities including Australia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, People’s Republic of China, Ecuador, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ireland, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
