Secretary of State Jesse White hosts National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will host the Illinois Secretary of State’s annual National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration by recognizing the historic contributions of business, academic and community leaders.
White will honor: Martin R. Castro, Chairperson of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission; Jennifer L. Rosato, Dean of Law at Northern Illinois University; Neli Vazquez-Rowland, co-founder and CEO of A Safe Haven Foundation; and Gilbert Villegas, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Illinois Capital Development Board.
The event will feature performances including a Mariachi band, Brazilian samba performances and an Ecuadorian folk dance.
The event will be held at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph St., Concourse Level, Wednesday, September 25th, noon to 1 P.M.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15th through October 15th, a time when the accomplishments and contributions of the Hispanic community are honored across the country.
