Rogers Park Named the Top Chicago Neighborhood for “Living Well”

A national real estate website this week named Rogers Park as the top neighborhood in Chicago  and one of the top neighborhoods in the nation for “living well.”

The website, Trulia, conducted a survey of 877 neighborhoods across the U.S., and named Rogers Park the 11th best neighborhood to live in the nation for staying active and healthy,  ahead of all other Chicago neighborhoods.

Trulia based their rankings on data from three key categories. Here’s what they wrote on their website:

  • Quiet Streets: the share of all streets within a neighborhood with low traffic.
  • Great Places to Play: the number of play-centric amenities, such as parks, trails, indoor bounce houses, among other like facilities.
  • Care and Essentials: the number of hospitals and care facilities like urgent care clinics, pediatricians, pharmacies, and day care locations.

Based on those metrics, we can see how Rogers Park rose to the top. We have many beautiful tree-lined streets and a dozen parks, including a beautiful lakefront, with Loyola Park as the crown jewel. Ten of our parks now boast new playgrounds, with new playgrounds planned later this year at the remaining two parks.

Our neighborhood also has many quality day care centers to choose from, as well as a number of health care clinics that serve people of all incomes on a sliding scale and a quite a few  local- and nationally-owned pharmacies.

Though like any urban neighborhood, Rogers Park has its challenges, it’s nice to receive this accolade from a nationally-renowned company.

Sincerely,

Alderman Joe Moore
