Reggae Artist Ainsworth Rose to perform in Chicago at the DuSable Museum of African American History

Chicago, IL (BlackNews.com) — Local Reggae Calypso singer/songwriter, Ainsworth Rose and his Sunshine Reggae Singers, will take center stage at The DuSable Museum of African American History – 740 East 56th Place Chicago, IL on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 5pm.

Ainsworth began his music career in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1990, he moved to the United States and started the Jamaica One Man Band in the Chicago Suburb of Bensenville, entertaining at piano bars and private parties. He made Chicago is home in 1992 and immediately became a part of the entertainment scene, performing for The Jamaican Consulate, The Jamaica Tourist Board, Illinois State Fair, Olive Harvey College and numerous public, corporate and private events.

In the year 2000, he composed, recorded, produced and self released his first CD, entitled, SWEET JAMAICA. He was the 2001 & 2002 recipient of the Calypso Performer of the Year Award, presented by The Chicago Music Awards.

To date, he has seven albums to his credit: Sweet Jamaica, Jamaica Me Crazy, Gospel Reggae, Spanish Reggae, Sunshine Music, Jamaican Carols and A Merry Reggae Christmas.

This concert will showcase many of Ainsworth’s popular original songs and also his interpretation of some of the world’s most loved island tunes, from Harry Belafonte to Bob Marley.

The music celebration will begin with a pre-show treat of tasty Jamaican cuisine and a fascinating museum tour at 5pm. Showtime is 6:30pm. Guest performers include Courtney Panton’s All Star Reggae Band, Kelvin Gordon – Contortionist, Horace Brown – Fire Limbo and Groupe Daara Gee – Afro/Caribbean Dance Group.
