WASHINGTON, D.C. – Radio One DC announces Ebony McMorris as the new News and Community Affairs Director for Majic 102.3, WKYS 93.9, Praise 104.1, WYCB 1340 and WOL 1450 effective immediately. In addition, she will also serve as a daily reporter for the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

Ebony has worked with Radio One since 2007 as a national reporter for WOL 1450 and most recently hosts the weekend Radio One Public Affairs Program on Praise 104.1 and Majic 102.3. When TV One premiered News One Now with Roland Martin in 2013, she served as the Morning News Correspondent. She is a weekly contributor to News One Now with Roland Martin Radio Show.

Until November 2013, Ebony spent 7 years at NBC-4 in Washington DC, as Assignment Editor and later a Planning Editor. In addition, her career includes stints as a Researcher for The Chris Matthews Show and work for Congressman James Clyburn. Ebony broke into the media landscape at NBC News in 2001, as a Network News Assistant and writer where she generated compelling story ideas. She went on to field produce and conduct interviews with high-ranking political officials and news makers for NBC News, Nightly News, Today Show and NBC News Channel.

“We are so very fortunate to have Ebony moving into this very important position for our Cluster in DC. She will play an integral role in helping us deliver a first class news product while also helping grow our community footprint in DC — as we continue to touch our listeners throughout The DMV,” said Radio One Vice President and General Manager Alan Leinwand.

Ebony succeeds Sheila Stewart, who passed away last October and believes this new role holds special significance, “Taking over a position held by Sheila is an honor because she mentored me early in my career and I can’t forget her power to connect people. The vision of this company and its staff is unmatched. I look forward to continuing and expanding our footprint in the community.”
