Over 100 African American Clergy Head to the U.S. Supreme Court to Pray for Supreme Justice
Washington, DC – Today, over one hundred African American Clergy from around the nation will gather at the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court as representation to pray for the U.S. Supreme Court justice selection process. Eminent Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously described his fellow judges as “nine scorpions in a bottle.”
However, with the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia that number has been reduced to eight. When Republicans began proclaiming that President Obama should not appoint the late justice’s successor.
President Obama countered that he would perform his constitutional duty and nominate a successor to Scalia, adding, “Your job doesn’t stop until you are voted out or until your term expires.” With continued political fighting and bickering faith leaders, after gearing up for a national voter registration campaign will head to the U.S. Supreme Court to pray for President Obama and his constitutional power to nominate a justice that has the professional merit and ideological attitude that represents people of races, gender and faith.

The ‘Praying For Supreme Justice’ rally will be held today, Tuesday, March 1, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. -1:30 p.m.
