One out of every four deaths in the U.S. is attributed to cancer. But federal funding is at the lowest point it has been in decades. Rebecca Gardner is one of many dedicated soldiers in the fight to end cancer. As a young cancer researcher, Dr. Gardner works in critical cell research that helps recognize and fight cancer. But funding is at an all-time low and it’s becoming more and more difficult for people like Dr. Gardner to pursue careers in cancer research. Reduced funding not only makes it harder for young scientists to fight cancer, but this has far reaching implications for the millions affected by cancer.

With 1.6 million Americans facing a cancer diagnosis this year, shouldn’t we be doing everything that we can to halt cancer in its tracks? Research is the best way to prevent, control and cure cancer — let’s stand up in support of cancer’s dedicated researchers!

Without funding, many of the most talented and promising young scientists are unable to pursue a career in cancer research. Imagine all the knowledge lost. We are missing out on needed advances in the science behind ending cancer! If we are to make any significant stride in cancer prevention and control, we need to take a stand for those who dedicate their lives to cancer research.
