May employment gains were a disappointment, reflecting slower economic growth during the first quarter of 2011 and expiration of funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Two years after the “official†end of the recession, nearly 14 million workers remain unemployed and 6.2 million of them have been out of work for six months or longer. Has the time come for another stimulus?
