CHICAGO, IL – Marion Elisberg Simon, whose name has been synonymous with philanthropy and the social scene in Chicago for decades, has written a fun, feisty, honest and insightful autobiography chronicling her life as one of the city’s most influential figures and dedicated advocates.
From being at the forefront of patient-centered care at Michael Reese Hospital and raising funds to ensure the longevity of the city’s treasured Lincoln Park Zoo, to bringing educational opportunities to disadvantaged young people in the Cabrini-Green housing project and revitalizing the performing arts program at Roosevelt University (as well as raising funds to restore and maintain its legendary Auditorium building), Simon has been a tireless force for positive change in the city.
Born in 1918 on Chicago’s South side, Simon’s candid, intimate, anecdote-filled autobiography tells the story of her captivating life and the pioneering spirit that allowed her to overcome all personal and professional obstacles, leading her to leave a mark on her hometown that will be recognized for decades to come. Simon has amassed a lifetime of wisdom to share, the most important being the power of perseverance.
Simon will debut the book at a invitation-only special event on Monday, Nov. 19 from 6 – 8:30 pm at Café Brauer, 2021 N. Stockton Drive.
