Grown-Up Play Date Gives Adults the Chance to Unleash their Inner Child while Benefiting the Museums Numerous Education and Outreach Programs

GLENVIEW, IL—Kohl Children’s Museum will host a Grown-Up Play Date for “kids” 21 and over on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the museum (2100 Patriot Boulevard, Glenview, IL 60026). Guests will take over the museum’s 17 interactive, hands-on exhibits along with other activities including: A trivia contest, mini pumpkin painting (sponsored by Dominick’s), face painting, prizes and one-on-one handwriting analysis with handwriting specialist Dale Roberts. All tickets include complimentary hors d’oeuvres provided by Pavillion Restaurant and Lounge and exploration of all museum exhibits. Ticket Levels:

  • Premium $60 Tickets include: Two drink tickets, free entry into the raffle, recognition as a donor in Kohl Children’s Museum’s annual report and visitor guide and a give away bag including two family passes for future museum entry.
  • Regular Ticket $25 includes: Two drink tickets.
  • Entry Only Ticket $15

“This Grown-Up Play Date promises to be an evening full of twists and turns as we watch the grown-ups, many of which were once patrons of Kohl in their youth, turn into kids again and take over the museum,” said Sheridan Turner, Museum President and CEO. “One of the event’s biggest twists will be our special guest, DJ CO-911, the North Shore’s youngest mix master, who will be providing the evening’s musical entertainment.”

Proceeds from the Grown-Up Play Date will benefit Kohl Children’s Museum’s award winning interactive exhibits and outreach programs, which give the power of play to nearly 350,000 children and their caregivers a year. These outreach programs include

  • Early Childhood Connections: free field trips and professional development for teachers in low-income areas
  • Everyone at Play: free Museum visits for families with children with special needs
  • Fitness for All: teacher training and field trips based on nutrition and healthy lifestyles
  • Off-the-Street Club: free on-site programming and Museum field trips for children in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood
  • Daily Discoveries: free public programming every day in the Museum’s Adventures in Art studio with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & design, Math) focus.

Children under 1 year old and members are admitted free of charge.
