WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) issued the following statement after yesterday’s horrific suicide bombing at Istanbul Atatürk Airport that killed 41 people and injured 239 more.  The attack marks the eighth time this year that ISIS has hit a Western target and killed or wounded at least ten civilians.

“ISIS’s coordinated suicide bombings at Turkey’s Istanbul Atatürk Airport reminds us that terrorists remain committed to attacking innocent civilians all over the world.  At a time when the terrorist threat to American families and our allies is growing, the Administration should pause Syrian refugee flows into the United States until it can prevent any and all terrorist infiltration, and stop releasing hardened terrorist detainees from Guantanamo Bay.”

Kirk’s statement comes as CIA Director John Brennan today warned:  “I’d be surprised if Daesh is not trying to carry out that kind of attack in the United States.”
