Former Police Officer Turned Community Activist Launches New “How To Survive Police Brutality” Workshop for Urban Teens

Nationwide (BlackNews.com) — Orrin C. Hudson, a former Alabama state trooper, has launched a free new workshop series for urban teens called “How to Prevent, Deal With, and Survive Police Brutality”. The workshop will be presented in middle schools, high schools, community centers, and churches across the country.

The workshop will cover various topics including:

* What to do if the police officer is verbally abusive
* What to do if the police officer is physically abusive
* Where to put your hands when interacting with a police officer
* How to stay calm and humble, even if you are 100% innocent
* How to respectfully talk to a police officer (even if the officer is in the wrong)
* Things to be legally aware of (such as whether or not to speak or to consent to a vehicle search)

Hudson was a state police officer for 6 years from 1986 to 1993. Since then, he has founded Be Someone, a non-profit organization in Atlanta, Georgia, that inspires young people to make better decisions. His award-winning organization has been featured on CNN, USA Today, Good Morning America, Essence Magazine, People Magazine, JET Magazine, and more.

Hudson is also offering a workshop for local police departments around the country called “How To Make Urban Communities Love Their Local Police Department.” This workshop will help educate police officers of all nationalities on how to better relate and understand the people in their community, and how to gain their love and respect.
