Father Goyo Visits Chicago to Talk About State of Mexico and Human Rights Crisis

Father Goyo (From Michoacan, Mexico) will be in Chicago at a press conference, Friday, September 30, 2015, 3 p.m., at the Rudy Lozano Library, 1805 South Loomis Street, in Chicago, IL. to talk about the state of Mexico and the Human Rights Crisis
Mexico has been experiencing a social revolt since Felipe Calderon aggressively escalated the “war on drugs†in Mexico (2006), and now Presidente Enrique Pena Nieto is facing consequences and social disrupts and a crisis of the country. The international press has been reported stories that involve human rights violation and involvement of local and federal authorities on murders, people abducted and corruption in coordination with drug leader. The disappearance of more than 40 students, allegedly at the hands of corrupt politicians, cops, and the cartels has inflamed the country and open a scenarios.
Padre Goyo has been fighting drugs and corruption. He fulminated against the cartel and its associates from the pulpit and began feeding intelligence to the federal security forces about who the criminals were and where they lived.
He is a priest on his town, Apatzingan, Michoacan; in a state that is responsible to bring more than 80% of methamphetamines coming in to USA.
President Enrique Peña Nieto has continued the militarization of Mexican society that his predecessor began, increasing support to the armed forces for law enforcement to double 2007.[2] Human rights violations including arbitrary detention, kidnapping, torture, and extra-judicial killings by security forces have continued. Even the U.S. Department of State’s 2013 Human Rights Report concludes: “Despite some arrests for corruption, widespread impunity for human rights abuses by officials remained a problem in both civilian and military jurisdictions.â€[3]
Why Father Goyo is coming to the USA?
Padre Goyo, is giving a testimony about the drug cartels violence and corruption in Mexico, the response of the people: a self-defense movement and the situation of the prisoners of conscience in Mexico.
Padre Goyo is having a talk with the people, media and community in Chicago to share information about what is happening in Mexico and the 43 missed students (Ayotzinapa) is a symbol of the total corruption, of the total ineptitude and worse, because the cartels are collaborating with the government. He is coming to share his experience to bring social justice and awakening of the critical situation Mexico is living now.
