Chicago Immigrants March & Rally On Anniversary of President’s Executive Actions
A year after the executive action announcements, Chicago immigrants take to the streets to denounce criminalization of immigrant communities and ongoing detention & deportation crisis.
On the anniversary of the President’s announcement for deferred action, the start of the Priority Enforcement Program (PEP), and the new enforcement priorities, Chicago immigrant communities will hold a press conference on Friday and a march Saturday. As a part of the #Not1More National Week of Action on the Anniversary of DAPA, Organized Communities Against Deportations and members of the immigrant community will take to the streets November 20 & 21 to denounce ICE’s tactics and to fight against the criminalization of immigrant communities.

March will begin at 10:30 A.M., and will arrive at Chicago ICE offices at 12:30 P.M.
On November 20 it will be one year since the President announced the expansion of the deferred action program to cover parents of U.S. citizens and an expanded number of childhood arrivals, as well as the date that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the beginning of the Priority Enforcement Program (PEP) and the announcement of the new priorities. While the expansion of deferred action has not gone into effect, the enforcement priorities have continued to target immigrant communities for deportation and detention.
Instead of relief against deportation, immigrant communities are experiencing an alarming increase in ICE’s aggressiveness. ICE is out of control, threatening and detaining immigrants with almost total impunity; in order to continue deportations ICE has even shown itself willing to lie and to break its own rules, as in the case of Manuel Roman.
