Outstanding Doctors Receive Recognition for Exceptional Service in Respective Fields

Eagan, MN (BlackNews.com) — Employees of Crutchfield Dermatology are proud to recognize Charles E. Crutchfield III, M.D. (www.crutchfielddermatology.com) as being named one of the “Top 21 Black Doctors In America” by the Atlanta Post. This prestigious award not only highlights Dr. Crutchfield’s admirable work ethic, but also his commitment to his practice, patients, and profession.

Selections for this award were based upon accomplishments of physicians in their medical practices and respective fields, and as actively breaking ground and carrying on the legacy of dedication and determination exhibited by Dr. James McCune Smith. “I am exceedingly proud and humbled to have my name included in the list of Black physicians who are following in the footsteps of Dr. James McCune Smith, the first Black doctor to earn a medical degree and practice medicine in the United States,” states Dr. Crutchfield.

The Atlanta Post writes, “Charles E. Crutchfield III, M.D. has found himself on several lists of “top doctors”, and for good reason. The accomplished dermatologist literally co-wrote the book on skin problems, “A Clinical Atlas of 101 Common Skin Diseases”. He graduated from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine with both a masters degree in molecular biology and doctoral degree in medicine.

Dr. Crutchfield is also involved in academic medicine. He has published over 100 dermatologic articles, and is currently a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, teaching medical students, residents, and other clinical physicians. He has been selected twice as the Teacher of the Year at the University of Minnesota by the medical students and the Minnesota Medical Foundation. He lectures both at local, State-wide and national medical conferences. Dr. Crutchfield has been awarded the “Karis” humanitarian award from the Mayo Clinic, and was also selected in a national survey, as one of the Top 10 African-American dermatologists in the United States, as reported by Black Enterprise Magazine. He is also currently the team physician for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
