C4 Mental Health Workers Protest Company Closure; Defend Clients
C4 Mental Health Professional Workers, joined by community allies
Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) workers will protest the abrupt closure of their company and seek justice for the clients they care for.  Local workers’ rights organization, Arise Chicago, and SEIU Local 73, are joining the workers to show them support.
The protest will be held today, Tuesday, 5/5/15, at 4740 N. Clark St., Chicago, 12:30 P.M.
Background:  Community Counseling Centers of Chicago, one of the largest mental health service providers in Chicago, abruptly announced on April 23 that it would be closing its doors May 31.  Employing over 300 professionals and serving over 10,000 at-risk individuals and families, the news came as a shock.  C4 workers were given 4 days of notice that their own health care would be terminated on May 1st, and have not been offered any severance compensation. Nor has the company informed C4 clients of any plan to transition their care to elsewhere, despite having promised one.
