The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) and Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team will be hosting its first Green Fair from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 at Mike Rylko Community Park, 1000 N. Buffalo Grove Rd. Staff from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) will be staffing a booth and raffling a rain barrel.

The free event will offer demonstrations so families can learn more about composting, water conservation, rain gardens, prairie restoration, and recycling. The MWRD is raffling a free rain barrel. The MWRD also sells and delivers rain barrels for $58 plus tax.

The event will also feature recycling opportunities. Collections include:
·        gently worn shoes
·        eye glasses
·        hearing aids
·        keys
·        compact fluorescent light bulbs
·        household batteries
·        small electronics such as cell phones, laptops, gaming systems, inkjet cartridges, MP3 players, cameras, GPS devices and radar detectors
·        gently used books
·        yoga mats
