American Dream Denied
By McKinley Williams
Is living the American Dream still alive? What happens when injustice closes the door to the American Dream? Listen to my story and help me seek justice in keeping the American Dream alive for me!
Nationwide (BlackNews.com) — How does someone who has been employed with the same company for 14 years and 9 months with an impeccable work history, outstanding evaluations, and documentation of never being absent or late have his dream denied in these great United States of America?
I was employed at Methodist Hospital Southlake in Merrillville, Indiana. Every day through rain, snow, sleet, and hail I faithfully performed my duties. A place that I poured sweat into. A place loved and cherished by me. A place in which my manger sought and acted upon advice given by me to keep our department running effectively and efficiently.
One day the absolute unthinkable happened! I had my American Dream snatched from underneath me by a social climber. A man named Frank, employed for only one month, through lies snatched my American Dream. An American Dream like so many others Americans of owning my own home.
My American Dream came to a halt when Frank the social climber used me as a stepping stool to his social climb. Frank, the social climber, accused me of stealing property. A blatant lie.
Throughout our department, it was a customary practice that discarded items placed outside of the building could be taken by anyone. A practice known by my manager! It never entered my mind that by taking discarded items that it would be considered stealing. Mind you these were discarded items taken in plain sight of everyone!
Frank the social climber accused me of stealing and after a pristine 14 years and 9 months immaculate record, I was fired! I was not given a written warning or suspension. It was one person stating that I was stealing discarded items.
The Franks of this world should not be permitted through their social climbing and vindictiveness be allowed to spread lies and that unjustly causes an American Dream to be taken away.
I am very close to being a senior citizen and it has been hard starting over. I am one step away from being homeless! I am not seeking sympathy or empathy! I am seeking justice!
America the land that I love! Our Great America in which a person through hard work can have their dreams comes true! America the land of freedom and justice for everyone should include me! In America the American Dream should still come true!
Join me in making this wrong doing by one person be made right and justice prevail. I am asking for donations, great or small to help me achieve my American Dream. All donations can be sent via www.paypal.com (Account: mackw07@gmail.com) or contact me at (219) 359-8814.
