Clifford Law Offices Files Case on Behalf of Woman Whose Foot is Crushed by Truck in Hit-and-Run in Chicago

Clifford Law Offices filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against a major trucking company whose currently unknown driver allegedly fled the scene after crushing the foot of a woman standing at a corner where the truck was making a right-hand turn on Chicago’s Southwest side.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge John H.  Ehrlich also entered an order on an Emergency Motion allowing Clifford Law Offices to subpoena the 911 communications from the day of the incident, Sept. 12, before they are erased and lost through routine procedures.  Those tapes are believed to provide critical information on witnesses to the tragedy as well as the identification of the exact truck that struck the woman and then left without offering her aid.

“We filed this suit after conducting a thorough, expedient investigation and learning the identity of the trucking company,” said Michael S. Krzak, partner at Clifford Law Offices handling the matter.   “We will find the driver of this vehicle and hold him accountable for his actions. It is simply unacceptable for the driver of a commercial motor vehicle to run over a pedestrian standing on the corner and flee the scene.”

Lorel Mazur, 61, of Chicago’s Southwest side was near the intersection of Kedzie Avenue and 51st Street at about 2:30 p.m. when a J.B. Hunt truck allegedly drove up on to the sidewalk and rolled over Mazur’s right foot, severely crushing it and breaking numerous bones.
