The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus will be holding a press conference today after Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Budget Address to offer reaction and offer the caucus’ own budget priorities.
Following Governor Rauner’s Budget Address Wednesday, February 18th, the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus will hold a press conference to outline the caucus’ budget priorities for the upcoming year and respond to the Governor’s budget proposal.
The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus believes the governor’s proposal will likely include deep cuts to safety net programs that help most vulnerable communities and put more pressure on working class families.
The Legislative Black Caucus is chaired by Assistant Majority Leader Kimberly A. Lightford, D- Maywood, and consists of 31 black legislators, 10 senators and 21 representatives.
The press conference will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015, immediately following the budget address, at the Illinois State Capital, in front of the Senate chamber
