It’s not too late to get your tickets for the 17th annual Chicago Football Classics being held Saturday, September 20, 2014, where the kick off will be held 3 p.m. at Soldier Field and where you will get a chance to win a brand new 2014-Challenger SXT donated by Sherman Dodge.
Marc Rand, the son of iconic businessman Tim Rand who is a spokesman for the 17th annual Chicago Football Classics, said this year the re-match game will be held between Central State University Marauders vs. Morehouse College Tigers.
There will also be the famous High School Battle of the Bands and the Battle of the College Bands at half time.
But there will be another treat at this very popular game where during the fifth quarter; there will be a raffle with the prize being 2014-Challenger SXT donated by Sherman Dodge.
Standing by the car was Ron Collins, marketing manager Sherman Dodge in Skokie, IL. A co-sponsor of the festival, Collins said, “All funding goes to scholarship funding for CPS students.†He is also holding a college fair before Saturday’s game.
Designed to urge African American youth to achieve their personal best in school and beyond, the Chicago Football Classics began as a not-for-profit organization in 1997 with business icons Everett Rand, his twin brother, Tim, and construction giant Larry Huggins, co-partner and founder of this annual event.
The Rand/Huggins initiative empowers these students to not only complete high school, but also attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The Football Classic allows these businessmen to showcase the talents of the HBCU scholarship recipients while visually showing others the benefits of attending these Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The game is also a visual incentive for high school seniors to attend college, maintain a high GPA and strive for excellence.
Organizers of this event are holding an 11 a.m. press conference today at City Hall.
