Family of Ryan Harris at Odds with Chicago Park District

Sabrina Harris, mother of 11-year-old murder victim Ryan Harris, is upset at being overlooked for a bathroom/small field house facility that has been promised to the family and the Englewood community since the park was renamed after her daughter.

Having received financial commitments from Illinois State Senator Jacqueline Collins ($300,000), State Representative Andre Thapedi ($12,500), and Alderman Roderick Sawyer ($200,000),  the family can’t understand why this park and this community has been constantly overlooked by the Chicago Park District.

“If the park district can find money for Maggie Daley Park and other parks in more affluent neighborhoods, why can’t they provide the monies for a bathroom facility for the children that frequent the park named after my daughter?”, asked Sabrina Harris.

The family along with members of the Englewood Political Task Force and from the Englewood community will convene at Ryan Harris Memorial Park to demand what was promised them almost sixteen years ago.

The family of Ryan Harris will hold a Press Conference today, Thursday June 12, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Ryan Harris Park, 6700 S. Lowe Ave.
