Northwestern Medicine and Kohl Children’s Museum present Science Fridays
Glenview, IL – Northwestern Medicine’s Glenview Outpatient Center and Kohl Children’s Museum have partnered to host a new children’s educational series called Science Fridays. Northwestern physicians and museum staff provide live demonstrations about topics such as eyesight, our senses and breathing, and lead children in hands-on activities to help them learn through experimentation and question and answer.
“At Science Fridays, Northwestern physicians guide the children through activities to help them learn through play,†said Micah J. Eimer, MD, FACC, a cardiologist and the medical director of the Northwestern Medicine Glenview Outpatient Center. “We’re very excited to interact with children and their caregivers in the fun and engaging environment of the Kohl Children’s Museum.â€
Science Fridays is offered every other Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Adventures in Art exhibit at the Kohl Children’s Museum at 2100 Patriot Boulevard in Glenview. Physicians who will lead the discussions include primary care physicians and specialists based at the Glenview Outpatient Center at 2701 Patriot Boulevard.
“Science Fridays represents one of our most visible and successful avenues for engaging our visitors in scientific thinking at a very young age,†said Sheridan Turner, president and chief executive officer of the Kohl Children’s Museum. “This wonderful partnership with Northwestern Medicine immerses children in making observations, constructing hypotheses, collecting data, and drawing conclusions. These hands-on experiments can also show caregivers how to make science more accessible and less threatening.â€
