Oak Park man sentenced in Child Pornography Case
An Oak Park man facing felony child pornography charges has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 months of intensive sex offender probation after pleading guilty to the charges, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Joe Hymon, 40, of Oak Park, pled guilty to Aggravated Child Pornography in a hearing before Judge Paula Daleo at the Maywood Courthouse on Wednesday (Nov. 5).
According to prosecutors, Chicago Police were conducting an undercover online investigation when they discovered child pornography being shared from a computer located at Hymon’s residence in Oak Park. Chicago Police turned the investigation over to the Oak Park Police Department who executed a search warrant at Hymon’s residence, recovering several computers. Forensic analysis revealed numerous images and videos of children under the age of 13 engaged in various sex acts.
Hymon, who has a previous 1993 felony conviction for Aggravated Battery to a Child, will be required to register as a sex offender for life upon his release from jail.
State’s Attorney Alvarez thanked Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Poje and the Oak Park Police Department for their work on this case.
