Supporters to raise $300,000 for former Chicago Bulls’ Superstar Bob Love Statue

CHICAGO, IL – Supporters of former Chicago Bulls superstar Bob “Butterbean” Love are holding a press conference 11 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 outside of the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC), 1100 South Hamlin, Chicago, to announce they are raising $300,000 to erect a statute in recognition of Love’s outstanding sports record and humanitarian efforts.

At the press conference, Love supporters will unveil a 5-foot rendition of the Bob Love statue.

“The time has come for former Chicago Bulls Superstar Bob “Butterbean” Love to get the recognition he deserves,” said former NBA player and chairman of the Kings Of Peaceful Solutions (KOPS) that is an empowerment team that advocates peace, love and education.

“It is time that we return the love to Bob Love and this statute will illustrate our appreciation for all he has done for Chicago,” said King echoing Love’s motto, “Education first, sports second and never let it be said that you can run faster than you can read, or jump higher than your grade point average.

“We are saying loud and clear that we must return the love to Bob Love and this statute in his likeness represents peace, love and education which is the credo Bob Love stands on today.”

Joining the Love supporters at the press conference will be attorney Harold Lefwich finance chairman of the group, Dr. Earl B. King, Chairman, KOPS, officials from the Black McDonald Association, Omri Amrany, artist and owner of The Rotblattamrany Studio, artist Gary Tillery, Pastor Kenyatta Smith, President of the Clergy for Community Change and other supporters.
