Will vote against any lawmaker who supports same sex marriage bill

“Those Who Voted For the Bill – You Are Finished”

Â
The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI) is a faith-based coalition of 34,000 churches comprised of 15 denominations and 15.7 million African Americans is committed to protecting and sustaining the biblical definition of marriage. If elected officials move forward with this legislation, Black Christians and pastors vow to exercise their constitutional right and mobilize their congregations to vote against any law maker who will support the same sex marriage bill. NBCI will proudly support the Let the People Vote rallies on July 24th to demonstrate our commitment to the Gospel and the biblical definition of marriage between and man and a woman.
Â
Rev Anthony Evans, President of NBCI, says “I proudly stand with those of the National Organization for Marriage and the hundreds god-loving organizations across New York State to declare to the world that the recent passage of the same sex marriage bill was not only unjust, but unholy. What Governor Cuomo and the state Assembly did was to unleash the full power of the black church against them. I want to remind them that it will not be business as usual moving forward. The Democrats will need the Black Church to win, and because they abandoned us, we plan to abandon them.”
Â
Democrats need to be prepared to lose a heavy voter base in 2012 if they support the same sex marriage bill over the objections of the Black Church. We hope they recognize the concerns of their constituents and think before they press forward on a bill that is so strongly opposed by a wealth of their voters. The National Black Church Initiative has over 2700 member churches in New York State, and we plan to educate our churches and congregants on the voting records of every Democrat and Republican Senator who support the same sex marriage bill. Voter education will become a primary focus of NBCI moving forward if this legislation continues to pose a threat to the Black faith community.
Â
