Portsmouth, VA (BlackNews.com) – Virginia Housing and Community Development Corporation (VHCDC) today announced its 2011 MBE Capital Call Conference and Venture Forum. The site is the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Hampton Marina in Hampton, Virginia, where over 100 small, women, and minority business owners are expected to convene to design, create, and launch several innovative, game-changing ventures – in slightly less than 3 days!
Reformatted from previous events, the 2011 MBE Capital Call is an intense, 53 hour long event designed to put entrepreneurs on the fast-track to developing their idea for a new product or service – which could form the basis of a credible business. Over the course of a 2-1/2 day period, attendees will collaborate to create and build a viable business model and develop a commercial case around it. Entrepreneurs emerge from the process highly focused and fully empowered to pursue their ventures. Select entrepreneurs will be given a platform to “pitch” their ideas to investors during the Venture Forum, on the final day of the event.
The mission of the MBE Capital Call is to educate, support, and promote investment in minority business enterprises. To that aim, VHCDC regularly assembles representatives from the public and private sectors of the financial community to educate minority business owners on a wide range of topics on capital and credit. According to James R. Taylor, VHCDC founder and Director, “We’ve conducted many conferences and seminars on numerous subjects around capital and credit. Now it’s time to nurture some of the ideas that have been developed and facilitate the creation of new businesses!”
The 2011 MBE Capital Call begins Thursday, September 15th thru Saturday, September 17th. For additional information, registration, and hotel accommodations, visit www.mbecapitalcall.com
