73rd Remembrance of Pearl Harbor Attack and 10th Anniversary of the Dedication of the WWII Illinois Veterans Memorial
The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Club, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and the WWII Illinois Veterans Memorial Board will hold their annual ceremony to mark and remember the heroism, service, and sacrifice of the men and women who were at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on on Dec. 7, 1941.
The annual ceremony will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014,  11 a.m. – Noon, at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Hall – Chapter 1525 Club Area, Lake Springfield, Springfield, IL
This year’s Remembrance includes honors to the 10th Anniversary of the Dedication of the WWII Illinois Veterans’ Memorial.
Keynote Speaker invited is Maj. Gen. Daniel M. Krumrei, Adjutant General, Illinois National Guard.
This ceremony is free and open to the public and includes the presentation of a proclamation signed by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, a Wreath Laying in the waters of Lake Springfield, Honor Guard presentation, the playing of Taps, and closes with a World War II Veteran’s Prayer. The Invocation and World War II Veteran’s Prayer are to be offered by Kathy Smith, a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and WWII Illinois Veterans Memorial Board member.
