212,000 Help Wanted OnLine Ads for Illinois Job Openings in June
Bloomington/Peoria, Decatur/Springfield, Rockford, Champaign/Danville and Quad Cities Among State Leaders
CHICAGO, IL – More than 212,000 help wanted ads for Illinois job openings were posted on the internet in June and 85 percent sought full‑time workers, the Illinois Department of Employment Security said today, citing an independent report. The data is not seasonally adjusted.
Help wanted internet advertising leaders included the Bloomington/Peoria region (9,300), Decatur/Springfield region (6,700), Rockford Stateline (6,600), Champaign/Danville (5,100) and the Quad Cities (4,800). The Chicago metro area (159,200) always will lead the state because it has the greatest population of any Economic Development Region.
“Here is another example that shows Illinois employers are hiring and our economy is getting stronger,†IDES Director Jay Rowell said. “We know that judging economic progress is best done when looking at several economic indicators over a period of time. And even with so many moving in a positive direction, we know more must be done to bring this economic progress to every doorstep.â€
The Conference Board collects the Help Wanted Online data. The Conference Board is a global, independent business membership and research association. The data represents industries that post online job ads. Some industries, such as construction, do not typically post job openings online.
Statewide, the top five advertised positions in June were truck drivers (11,188), registered nurses, (6,446), retail salespersons (4,875), first‑line supervisors of retail salespersons (4,269) and marketing managers (4,201). Job seekers can build multiple resumes to emphasize different skills and experiences. Business owners can use keyword matching technology to search resumes and find the best candidate. Illinoisjoblink.com is free for workers and employers. It compares favorably to private efforts that cost hundreds of dollars.
