Soul of Sonoma on the Vineyard is set to hit a second-year milestone celebrating La Vie en Rose!

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) – What was initially slated to be a one-time event held on Martha’s Vineyard to promote Soul of Sonoma’s California wine tours, Soul of Sonoma on the Vineyard (SoSMV) has transformed into a full-fledged annual festival. Now in year two, the nearly sold-out event has become one of the most anticipated annual premium wine and epicurean classics on Martha’s Vineyard. SoSMV almost exclusively features African American-owned or distributed wine brands. Unlike similar wine festivals, SoSMV provides its nearly 300 guests the opportunity to meet and interact with winemakers, many of whom travel from the West Coast and beyond to attend the event.

The 2019 theme, La Vie en Rose, was spawned from the observation by Soul of Sonoma’s founder, that people were going crazy for rosé.

“Rosé is still on trend, and even wine experts are digging a bit deeper in their reviews and acknowledging that rosé can exhibit some of the same taste complexities as well-made reds and whites,” says Patrice Davenport, founder of Soul of Sonoma. “This is an exciting time for wine, because the invigorated interest in rosé has given connoisseurs and the broader industry a new horizon to explore.”

It seems the popularity of rosé is just hitting its stride as exhibited by the recent explosion of rosé-inspired apparel, décor, accessories, and of course the wine. Davenport’s goal is to provide Soul of Sonoma customers with a better understanding of what these wine brands are doing with rosé and other varietals. Take Theopolis Vineyards, one of Soul of Sonoma’s featured wineries that has been making a Rosé of Petite Sirah for almost a decade. According to Davenport, “This refreshingly dry rosé is surprisingly medium bodied and at the same time bold and robust; it is probably one the most interesting rosés you will ever taste.” The winemaker Theodora Lee, who founded Theopolis Vineyards in 2003, is a senior partner and trial lawyer at Littler Mendelson. Guests find her storytelling just as interesting as her wine. Lee will be sharing her passion for wine once again this year at the SoSMV festival.

The planning committee is looking forward to building on the momentum of last year’s sold out event. According to one guest, “It certainly lived up to its description – wine flowed, music pulsed, and a fabulous time was had by all.” Tasting tables were set out around the venue with gourmet food from well-known Martha’s Vineyard chef Deon Thomas, music from DJ Chris Washington, and fine art for sale. Guests meandered from station to station, interacting with the knowledgeable staff, adding stamps to a tasting passport for a chance to win a selection of three premium wines. This year, guests can expect some infusions of French culture, and are asked to wear hints of blush and pale rose to mark the occasion.

There are some surprises in store for 2019 SoSMV guests including new rosé, among other wine selections, presented by Paula Harrell from her award-winning P. Harrell Wines collection. There will be an exciting experience for premium ticket holders from wine and spirits veteran Donae Burston, who will feature his new wine La Fête du Rosé which is made in conjunction with Domaine Bertaud Belieu winery in the heart of St. Tropez. Burston, who will be in attendance, brings 15 years of industry experience and has worked with premium wine and spirits brands including Dom Perignon, Hennessy, Belvedere, Moët & Chandon, and Veuve Clicquot.

Tickets can only be purchased online and will not be sold at the door: http://www.soulofsonoma.com/events
