Senate must not let Wall Street “Tie our hands”: Atty. General Madigan

This week the U.S. Senate is debating a bill that will impact our future financial security, and all of us have a stake in the outcome.

I’ve been shouting about the need for reform for years. Luckily, in Illinois I’ve been able to hold some of the largest lenders accountable and pass laws putting in place standards and protections long before Congress even recognized our financial system had run amok. But now Wall Street interests are trying to prevent state attorneys general from passing and enforcing consumer protection laws. That’s crazy! And it’s the kind of arrogance that got us into this mess.

If the Senate heeds the siren song the financial firms are singing, it’s only a matter of time until we’re hit with another economic catastrophe. We can’t let that happen!

Call our U.S. Senators, Dick Durbin and Roland Burris, at (866)544-7573 and thank them for standing with Main Street, not Wall Street, and urge them not to let Wall Street lobbyists weaken state powers to enforce consumer protection laws. For more information, click here.

If you don’t live in Illinois, call your own Senator and urge them to stand with Main Street and not to let Wall Street lobbyists weaken state powers to enforce consumer protection laws.

Please call (866)544-7573 Office of Senate Toll Free.  Please call between 9am & 5pm.
